Dallas Labor in the Fight
Our Day Is Coming
Tickets are on sale for the Dallas AFL-CIO annual Labor Day breakfast. Tables are going fast at $350 for 10 seats. The breakfast is the premier Labor Day event and the kickoff for labor's role in the critical coming elections.
On the Sunday before Labor Day, all worship services are encouraged to include working people's messages. Our Speakers Bureau has outstanding spokespersons.
Following our Dallas event, the Tarrant County AFL-CIO presents their picnic at UAW 218, 98 W Hurst Blvd in Hurst. The Dallas Democrats have another picnic starting at noon at 4930 Military Parkway in Dallas.
Stand with Undocumented Workers
Labor joins with other progressive organizations at 6:30PM on August 14 for a "Know Your Rights" forum at Hebron Lake Library, 4220 N Josey Ln in Carrollton. The Texas Legislature is attacking the families of our working brothers and sisters in labor with their "Sanctuary Cities" law. Issues of local control are also at stake. For more information contact Maria De Jesus Garza at 469-333-0634.
Stand With School Employees
Full and equitable funding for our public schools is being threatened by federal and state authorities. Learn how to stand up for the schools at "Community Conversation: The Future of DISD Schools" at the Alliance/AFT office, 334 Centre in Dallas, at 6PM on August 16. Contact Empress Lindsey at 469-203-0496.
Learn About the Environment and Civil Rights
Two important movies are showing in Dallas. "An Inconvenient Sequel" explains the critical climate problem and calls us to action. "Detroit" dramatizes the 1967 murders of young African Americans by police.
