Please join the strategy discussion on paid sick time tomorrow, August 4, at 10AM at 1408 N Washington. All progressives should get on board with this broad coalition. Political leaders of the city are defying the popular movement on behalf of working Dallasites.

Advocates for working people held a news conference outside Dallas City Hall on August 1. Afterward, they descended on the Dallas City Council to demand action on paid sick time for all workers in the city.

Currently, activists are asked to contact City Councilpersons to demand action:

The Austin Council has already granted paid sick time and the San Antonio Council has verified the petitioning campaign, Dallas continues to side with employers against the populace. Union organizers are determined to get paid sick time in Dallas one way or another.

Joe Hill Ain’t Dead

Joe Hill, the union organizer killed by a firing squad in Utah in 1915, will be remembered as part of services at Unitarian Church, 3839 W Kiest in Dallas, at 10 AM on Sunday, August 5. His song reminds us that Joe Hill will never die. Hill’s final message was “Don’t Mourn, Organize!”
