Canvassing at 10 AM on Saturday, October 13, begins at 2741 E Beltline Rd#110 in Carrollton. We canvassed in Richardson last week. Labor goes where working families need us most.

Before we hit the streets last week, we met with labor-endorsed candidate for Congress Colin Allred. We expect to continue helping Allred right up to the election, but other worker-friendly candidates also merit our support. We expect to boost State Rep candidate Julie Johnson, as well as Allred, on October 13.

AFL-CIO Makes More Friends

Political Director Lorraine Montemayor organized labor’s appearance at the Buffalo Tree Festival in downtown Dallas early this week. Our table was prominent while major political and musical figures built excitement for the November elections.

Workers Movement Needs Planning

The monthly Dallas AFL-CIO meeting is scheduled for 7:30 PM on the third Thursday, October 18, at 1408 N Washington. Affiliated members will fine-tune our electoral work. Even though we are closely watching developments in Dallas City Council District 4, we have not implemented our rigorous screening process. Union leaders took a poll and decided to wait until after the first round of voting. Most people expect a runoff in District 4.

The delegates will be asked to choose a weekly “red shirt day” for all the working family supporters in Dallas County.
