Raids on Workers Expected
United working families face every challenge together. An injury to one is an injury to all. The following comes from the Secretary-Treasurer of the Texas AFL-CIO:
"The Texas AFL-CIO has put together many resources at our website to inform affiliates and union members about their rights in case there are raids taking place in their communities. We ask that you share them widely. Our intention is to inform our affiliates about the different resources available. See https://www.texasaflcio.org/issues/immigration.
'If you have any questions, please feel free to email Montserrat@texasaflcio.org.
'Thank you,
'Montserrat Garibay, NBCT, Secretary Treasurer, Texas AFL-CIO, (512) 627-2313, @MontseTXAflcio, Montserrat@texasAflcio.org"
Labor Helps With Citizenship
A busy crowd gathered at CWA 6215 headquarters on Saturday, June 29. The Dallas AFL-CIO and our allies were conducting another in the series of helpful citizenship forums. Workers consulted with attorneys and other volunteers to get through many difficulties in filing for United States citizenship. Leaders of the Texas AFL-CIO were on hand. In conjunction with the Workers Defense Project, these events are taking place across the state.
The Texas initiative comes at a particular historical moment when the Trump Administration is attempting to create a hurtful divide between documented and undocumented working people. For the AFL-CIO, unity is paramount!
