Join labor’s army by clicking here. This year, volunteers will do almost all of the election work from their own homes. A special training is scheduledfor September 16 at 6 PM.

Unionists can build on successes from the last round of elections and get pro-labor legislation in coming sessions. State Representative Terry Meza, a rock for working families, recently listed some milestone Texas legislation that will be coming up.

Make sure everyone is registered to vote at register2vote.org. Make sure that everyone eligible to vote by mail knows how to do it.

Paper Is Needed

This election, getting a paper list of labor-endorsed candidates is critical. Straight-ticket voting has been outlawed. The Union Craftsman’s August edition carried a full page of labor-endorsed North Texas candidates to the unions that subscribed, but many union members have not yet received a paper list that they can carry into the polling places or share with family members.

The Texas  AFL-CIO has provisions to help every union local reach out to their members. The Dallas AFL-CIO stands ready to help. It is necessary and possible to get a paper list of recommended candidates into every union household.

Labor Day Was Great Jumpstart

National, state, and local AFL-CIO efforts gave a terrific beginning to labor’s political season. Instead of reaching a few hundred with our usual breakfasts and picnics, national reports up to 200,000 at just one of their six Labor Day on-line presentations! Texas held a variety of Labor day on-line activities. The traditional Dallas Labor Day breakfast, which proudly included 500 participants last year, reached over 1,500 on ZOOM and Facebook.

Sponsors are continuing to send checks to Dallas AFL-CIO, 1408 N Washington#240, Dallas, Tx 75204; or they are donating on our Paypal account.

Facebook continues to show successful AFL-CIO presentations to even more viewers. Union approval is America has risen to 65% as more on-line organizing and political successes become possible. In the struggle to keep improving during the pandemic, labor is winning!
