If you heard a collective sigh of relief because the elections are over, it didn’t come from the Dallas AFL-CIO. At our Central Labor Council meeting we committed to winning the DISD School Board runoff on December 8. The school employees’ union, Alliance/AFT, has endorsed Nancy Rodriguez. Speakers at the November 19 monthly meeting said that Rodriguez was head and shoulders above her opponent on important issues such as school privatization, merit pay, hazard pay, and cost-of-living adjustments. To help the schools, call George Rangel at 214-325-6693.

The Texas AFL-CIO has already launched a program to help win the Senate races in Georgia. The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans will be ready to start next week.

Fun and Fundraising

The Dallas AFL-CIO third Thursday meeting in December will be taken over by our Fun and Fundraising committee. Travis Cantwell, Ray Edmondson, and Kym Grant revealed some of their plans at the November 19 Central Labor Council.
