At a special meeting of the Dallas AFL-CIO Executive Board on January 27, we made a solid commitment to maintain our momentum from previous elections. The only other alternative considered was doing even more!

We intend to screen every Dallas City Council candidate who wants to be considered, and we will do it without spreading the virus! Dallas labor is committed to carrying out an aggressive election program without endangering our members.

Dallas AFL-CIO has already begun accepting e-mail inquiries from candidates.

The PRO Act is Priority

Dallas labor is geared into local, state, and national political priorities. The “Protect the Right to Organize” (PRO) Act should be introduced into Congress on February 4. It will take a hard fight, but labor is committed to raising wages, getting infrastructure jobs, and breaking the bosses’ stranglehold over union organizing. Nationwide mobilization is under way.

Tell Your Organizing Story on Video

As part of the national campaign for the PRO Act, Amber Sparks (asparks@aflcio.org) is asking everybody to make videos describing both successful and unsuccessful organizing drives. Dallas AFL-CIO will provide the technical help for anyone who can tell their story.

Americans want to organize. A landmark success might come when the first group of Amazon workers forms a local union. Chelsea Connor (cconnor@rwdsu.org) wants to make contact with every unionist with contacts near Bessemer Alabama, where 5,508 Amazon employees will get a chance to go union.
