Nationwide backing helped win the strike against Nabisco by the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM). However, they are now having to deal with union busting from Kellogg. Solidarity can win this strike the same way it won the last one.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) has voted almost unanimously to go on strike if necessary. Jonas Loeb told the AFL-CIO communicators, “If it does come to that, we’re going to need support from all over the country.”
Rachel Van Raan told labor communicators that the Communications Workers of the World needs solidarity with striking health care workers in Buffalo, New York.
The grueling strike involving Alabama miners continues. Hotel employeesare fighting major cutbacks. Here in Texas, Exxon-Mobile managers are hoping to decertify the Steelworkers' union as refinery workers endure the sixth month of a cruel lockout. National and local political battles rage on.
