Local Labor History Recounted
Three old timers in the North Texas labor movement will talk at UT-Arlington library on November 9. 12:30PM on the 6th floor.
Dr George Green, who assembled the greatest labor archives west of the Mississippi, chose the three of us to say a few words, answer questions, and elicit comments on the 6th floor of the library. I think we all agreed to do it out of respect for Dr Green and his life's work.
Labor history is not the history they have in schools. Actually, I've been trying to get into school history classes for decades, and it's pretty hard to do. Ordinary history is full of puffed up politicians and rich businesspersons, but the history that really matters is ours -- the history of working people.
