Act Now -- No Time for Complaining!

“Republicans aren’t going to save us. Democrats aren’t going to save us. Working people are going to save ourselves.”    --AFL-CIO National President Liz Shuler

Beginning now, the focus is on fighting back. The list of working people’s complaints against the aspiring dictatorship has grown too long to recount. There are more Labor Day events in America today than ever. The Dallas Labor Day Breakfast remains our most important event.

You can still make a donation, purchase a table for 10 ($350) or buy individual tickets ($40) by clicking here. As always, tickets will be sold at the door.

Dallas County Democrats are selling tickets to their event right after ours. The mighty Tarrant County Labor Council begins its Labor Fest at 11AM at “The Shack” on Panther Island, 395 Purcey St., Fort Worth. It’s free!

We have organized at least 5 union activists to speak in churches, mosques, and synagogues this year. Make sure your organizations and religious services acknowledge labor’s historical day.

Labor's National President Spoke Out

Dallas TARA President Kenneth Williams took notes while Liz Shuler spoke

Dallas and Fort Worth retirees organized events to listen to AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler deliver her Labor Day message. They weren’t disappointed as Shuler briefly recounted the attacks against working people and affirmed that organized workers will fight back and win. Instead of blaming certain individuals or political groups, Shuler said, “It started with a system that has left working people behind for a long time.” Although organized labor always emphasizes elections, she also said, “Politics alone won’t fix what’s wrong!”

Retirees organized "Listen to Liz" meetings

Retirees carried out discussions among themselves about how they can be most effective in the fightback. They were especially concerned by Trump’s declaration that he will end vote-by-mail. Texas retirees are the strongest voting demographic largely because we can sign up every year to vote early from home.  The Dallas and Fort Worth retiree events were our 13th and 14th public events in August.

Young Active Labor Leaders, which also accepts non-union members, will have its mighty Summit September 5-7 at the end of Labor Week.
