Up In Arms!

State and federal union leaders have been frantically lobbying to stop some of the worst legislation that we have ever faced. No one can be sure who will be hurt the most by Congress or the Texas Legislature. It might be seniors, it might be children, it might be women, it might be all working families!

The Dallas Chapter of Texas Alliance for Retired Americans has called a rally for 2 PM tomorrow, Saturday, at 1100 Commerce to demand “No Cuts, No Special Sessions.” A defensive coalition is building around labor. The main speaker tomorrow will be the school board trustee who was just re-elected in a landslide: Joyce Foreman.

Here are the other scheduled speakers so far:

  • Juana Ramirez, Organizer for the Dallas Labor Committee for Latin American Advancement
  • Rosie Curts, Co-Chair of Young Active Labor Leaders
  • Judy Bryant, State organizer for Texas Alliance for Retired Americans
  • Joe Tave, Labor-endorsed candidate for Dallas City Council

Win One More Election

Political Committee leader Jason Tomlinson says that phone banking for the June 10 runoff election will start as soon as Labor Action Network approves our list in District 3. We are ready to go! Expect to go door-to-door on June 3. Everybody who wants to win for working families is encouraged to contact Tomlinson at jtomlinson.dallasaflcio@gmail.com.
