Dallas AFL-CIO political director Lorraine Montemayor is checking out the candidates and encourages others to do the same. She plans to attend the kickoff rally for State Representative Victoria Neave on Thursday, November 9, 5:30 to 8PM at Winfrey Point at White Rock Lake, 950 E. Lawther Dr, Dallas 75218.

Neave, with labor’s help, ran one of the most important and most successful campaigns in the state in 2016. She faced an incumbent Republican with tremendous financial resources, but prevailed in the election! She went on to lead one of the larger marches in Dallas history on January 21 of this year and held an excellent pro-labor voting record during the difficult 2017 Texas Legislative Session.

Several political leaders are expected, including Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, State Representative Rafael Anchia, State Representative Roman Romero, State Representative Roberto Alonzo, and State Representative Nicole Collier. Lorraine Montemayor and other union members will be familiarizing themselves with progressive candidates.
