Election day activities begin at 7AM from 1408 N Washington and last all day. At 7:30PM, a celebratory caravan will take our volunteers from 1408 N Washington to one election watch party after another.

Union activists and our allies have a lot to celebrate. While turnout across the state is setting records, Dallas County turnout in labor’s targeted districts has doubled the other areas.

John Lewis Visits

Bonnie Mathias of Communications Workers Local 6215 and KNON’s “Workers Beat” program was among the activists invited to hear civil rights legend John Lewis when he visited Dallas to campaign for Colin Allred in Congressional District 32.

Lewis has tremendous credibility when he talks about exercising the right to vote. In winning that right, he had his head broken and was arrested over 40 times!

Bonnie Mathias recorded a significant part of his short talk and posted it on Facebook. See it at https://www.facebook.com/bonnie.mathias.7/videos/10212831132674154/

“Union Work” is Mostly Fun!

Dallas union activists had a great time phone banking along with other election activists on October 29. Mark York, leader of the Dallas AFL-CIO sent out congratulations to a large number of unions who were represented. One outstanding contribution came from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, who not only had local activists there but actually sent two experts from California to help in Dallas County!

We’ll have even more fun “working” on election day and celebrating that evening!

New Red Shirts Coming

The Dallas AFL-CIO has ordered red shirts with a new original logo created by our resident artist, Jason Thomlinson. The blazing new shirts will boost our program to get all North Texans to wear red on Thursdays in solidarity with working families.
