Town Hall Meeting Is Critical

The Texas Legislature is posed to do some terrible things to working families in the near future, and several of them are linked to Dallas State Senator Don Huffines of Senate District 16 in Northeastern Dallas County. Among other things, Huffines has co-authored legislation that would severely injure unionism for public employees and undermine our public school system.

City Joins County and School District in Welcoming Resolutions

The strongest progressive coalition in Dallas history is seeking to guide a welcoming resolutions through  Dallas City Council. On March 22, the Council passed an anti-discrimination measure concerning members of the Islamic faith, but have not yet taken action on a welcoming resolution. Dallas County and School District have already passed resolutions that make it clear that immigrants, refugees, and everyone else are respected in our community. Mark york says, "We look forward to passing a welcoming resolution through Dallas City Council."

Dallas AFL-CIO is proud to have worked with this progressive coaliton and expects more great things to come.
