The Dallas AFL-CIO endorsed over 150 candidates in the primary race at hand. But that’s not all. We work hard to win for working people! Union members and our supporters are working through the AFL-CIO and other progressive organizations in all possible ways.

Political Director Lorraine Montemayor wants every progressive activist with us on our last block walk day for the primary, Saturday, March 3. She writes, “To increase our success in the Texas Capitol, working Families need greater influence over who gets elected! We do this by going door to door and making phone calls to get people out to vote. By increasing Dallas Labor’s political power, we can be in a better position to win in 2019! Show up and make it known that with our endorsement comes WORK!

Four key candidates for the statehouse will be especially invited on Saturday: Roberto Alonzo, Terry Meza, Joanna Cattanach, Rhetta Bowers.

The AFL-CIO will continue working at all tasks through the March 6 election day. Contact Lorraine at 214-448-1557.

oUR Efforts Are Paying Off!

The governor of Texas has revealed that he is worried about early voting turnout statistics. Statewide, the first few days of early voting had Democratic turnout improved by 65% over the last mid-term election, while turnout for Abbott's party improved by only 20%. Dallascountyvotes.org shows Democrats carrying 66% of the "in person" early vote in our county, while Republicans had only 34%.

Voting Turnout Expert On Board

The Texas AFL-CIO has sent Summer Lollie to help juice up voter turnout. She will appear on KNON’s “Workers Beat” radio program at 9 AM on Saturday, March 3.
