This election is already upon us. Millions, including Texas seniors, have already voted. Maximum volunteers are needed for Saturday canvassing. Our main labor group will operate from “La Casita” at 580 W Arapaho Rd #154, Richardson, Tx 75080. We’ll also be supporting other efforts. Contact
etilley2006@yahoo.com as soon as possible.

On Monday, every Texan starts voting. We’ll start that day’s activities with a “vote early” rally downtown at 600 Commerce. Contact judy4tara@aol.com.

Vote Early Rally

Labor Activists Are Pumped

The Dallas Central Labor Council meeting on October 17 had outstanding attendance, both “real life” and “on-line.” The levels of activity and success continued their steep climb.

We swore in a goodly number of new delegates. Four of the top North Texas candidates came: Julie Johnson for Congress headed the list. Liz Ginsberg, Cassandra Hernandez, and Averie Bishop for State Rep were also enthusiastically applauded.

President Donnie Jolly and several Vice-Presidents from Amalgamated Transit Union announced successful discussions, so far, with the Dallas Area Rapid Transit authorities. They thanked the Young Active Labor Leaders for helping by attending DART meetings. Applause for YALL extended, also, to their own report on picketing with the Fired Dallas Black Dancers.

Our picket was covered by the N Y Times

Labor will continue to back the Dancers because “An injury to one is an injury to all.” A quick cash collection netted $273 to help keep the Dancers from starving while they fight against scab performances, government underwriting, and unfair labor practices. Further contributions can go to https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-dbdt-dancers-overcome-job-loss.

Cash donations went to help sustain the Fired Dancers

Derrick Moran of UAW Local 848 announced a tentative agreement with 30% raises over four years.

We passed a motion to oppose Propositions S, T, and U on the Dallas ballot. Previously, we had agreed to support Proposition R. After a plea from Britni Cuington, the Council agreed to take a longer and more detailed look at the rest of the Propositions. Our web page list of endorsements is updated.

Big Ray Edmondson encouraged everyone to begin signing up to sponsor and get tickets to our “Casino Night” fundraiser on November 1. Kym Grant announced that the Doctor’s Guild would be “Platinum” sponsors. Payments can be made at https://square.link/u/vSx4fO8p. Contact jtomlinson.dallasaflcio@gmail.com.

Rena Honea announced another street rally on voting (It will be our 7th) for October 24 from 4 to 6 PM at the polls at 702 E Jefferson. Wear red.

Earnest Tilley and Judy Bryant announced astounding statistics on doors knocked, calls made, texts sent, and postcards mailed so far. Dallas labor is gunning for success!
