The Dallas AFL-CIO has posted all endorsements for the March 1 primary election. Because so many candidates sought labor’s approval, we completed the statewide endorsements in January and local endorsements February 17.

Fight for Freedom and Voter Rights

A number of obscenely well-planned obstacles to vote-by-mail has been paying off for reactionary voter suppressors. Labor and other progressives are fighting back by helping voters and urging more turnout.

Communications Workers Local 6215 led an important rally in downtown Dallas on the first day of early voting. Dallas AFL-CIO, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, several candidates, and others participated.

The Texas AFL-CIO is sponsoring Marilyn Davis to organize efforts to get out the vote in North Texas. At the Central Labor Council on February 17, she announced block walking to begin at 10AM on Saturday, February 26, from 1408 N Washington. Sign up here.

The Texas American Federation of Teachers has already started phone banking. Texas Alliance for Retired Americans voted to back them, and organizer Judy Bryant has already participated twice. Sign up here. The retirees are also organizing a Facebook Group to mobilize voter rights fighters. The first Texas-wide meeting is Monday at 10 AM.

At the February 17 Central Labor Council meeting, Bonnie Mathias said that election workers are signing up for training and more are needed. Contact her to sign up.  .
