Victory for Labor!
Landslide Lorraine Birabil swamped her opponent in the January 28 runoff for Texas House District 100. Her share of the vote was 66.28%; his was 33.72%. Dallas Labor had selected Birabil after carefully screening all candidates before the first round. In a separate process, the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans also selected and backed Birabil.
Active union members, retired union members, and our many community friends then threw themselves into this important race. District 100 includes most of downtown Dallas and part of Mesquite.
Birabil will have no resting period. To extend her term beyond January 2021, she will have to win again in the March 3 primaries. Labor will be right there with her as we win even more elections for working families. Contact Political Director Lorraine Montemayor or Mark York at 214-826-4808 and join us!
