Labor Isn't Sitting By
Your labor movement is not watching the polls or statistics. Instead, we are throwing everything we can think of into winning for working families and retirees. We’ll keep writing postcards until we run out. Door-to-door canvassing starts at 10AM every Saturday from 1408 N Washington. Volunteer phone banking is 2-7PM every Tuesday and Thursday from 1408 N Washington. Those who need help to make calls from home can get help on ZOOM at this link: https://aflcio.zoom.us/j/83052174015?pwd=MyL0mht0fUgF5SaKbaHlU7Keb9b46t.1. The ZOOM meetings will be active at 2PM and 5PM on October 3, then every Tuesday until the election. All questions are welcome.
Rally for Voting
Texas seniors are receiving their absentee ballots this week, just a few days after our lawsuit frustrated Attorney General Paxton’s voter suppression plans. We’ll take our ballots with us for a short rally and news conference:
- Rowlett Library
- 3900 Main Street, Rowlett
- 11 AM Friday, October 4
Those who want to ride in Lou Luckhardt’s AFL-CIO van can meet at 1408 N Washington before 10:30AM. It’s a 25 minute scenic drive.
There are several good reasons to attend:
- It’s in favorite candidate Averie Bishop’s District 112, and she’ll be there
- It’s a chance to stir up more voters
- It’s a chance to get more seniors to vote by mail (deadline for applications is October 25)
- It’s very fulfilling to get off the sidelines and DO SOMETHING
- It’s going to really irritate the Attorney General
Labor Leaders Make Their Plea
Labor leaders from the National President of the AFL-CIO right down to those in Dallas County are saying that we have never had the opportunities we have today. If we join together in action, the future could be better than we have ever known. Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy’s 11-minute speech is available now as a free podcast. Click here. . When we fight, we win!
