Life Is Struggle

“He not busy being born is busy dying!” –Bob Dylan
Fortunately for labor folks and our friends, struggling is what we’re good at. Flight Attendants rallied for contracts at DFW on December 18. Young Active Labor Leader activist Arash Farasat attended and was able to find this video:

The rally was likely a much-needed inspiration to the TSA workers, who found out this week that Trump is ripping away their union. The House of Representatives voted to overturn Trump’s union busting, but there’s a lot more work to be done.
Struggling pays off, as in the case of labor’s favorite State Rep, Terry Meza of Tx105. She’s done so well, and had so much backing, that no Democrat nor Republican is challenging her in 2026!
Starbucks Workers Lead the Fight
The ongoing strike and boycott of Starbucks coffee stores looks good. Starbucks Workers United reported that workers and unions in 10 countries took action last week in support of US baristas, including actions in the UK, Turkey, and Istanbul.

Locally, strikers went out leafletting with help, as always, from Young Active Labor Leaders and the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans. They may extend the strike until they win, which means they need help with fund raising and spreading the word. Expect our KNON radio program to discuss it thoroughly at 9AM Saturday on 89.3FM or knon.org. Striker emissaries are available to come to your organization’s next meeting. Election Struggle Is Close
Judy Bryant of the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans isn’t waiting for New Years to start retiree phone banking for Taylor Rehmet in Senate District 9, Northern Tarrant County. Anybody can do phone banking. Contact Judy at judy4tara@aol.com.
Keep Up the Forward Progress
Dallas and Tarrant county’s old Central Labor Councils will be discarded soon, but both counties will still have assemblies. Activists are organizing times, places, and equipment to hit the ground running in January. Contact genelantz19@gmail.com or tevitakfuhatafe@gmail.com to help make sure we don't lose momentum.
