Make Us Strong!

Build up labor’s solidarity, especially with civil rights. Join labor’s contingent in the Dallas Martin Luther King Jr march and parade tomorrow, January 18. Park in lot 9 or 10 in Fair Park. Before 8:30AM, find our contingent. We drew #4, so we will be close to the embarkation point at the Pennsylvania Street entrance to Fair Park. The march route returns us to our cars. Map.For even more clarity,Lou Luckhardt writes, "I suggest advising people to go to this address for tomorrow's parade, 3912 S Fitzhugh Ave. Dallas Texas 75210. They can look for a sign stating Gate 10 entrance and they will turn onto exposition Ave. and the parking lot will be on the right side.

Dallas labor is getting ready for new rounds of election and legislative work. Sign up with Political Director etilley2006@yahoo.org. Our Young Active Labor Leaders and our Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, both extremely successful, could be strengthened by having more people in our Solidarity Brigade, because it has no age restraints.
Along with our new Spanish speaking partners, Dallas AFL-CIO has held its first Citizenship Clinic. Principal officer Lou Luckhardt announced that we intend to keep working together for quarterly clinics.
Our affiliates in public service unions are steeling themselves for attacks from national and state Republican officials. The American Federation of Teachers has scheduled a lobby day in Austin for March 10. The Central Labor Council meeting on January 16 was addressed by President Sheria Smith of Local 252 of American Federation of Government Employees.

Nationwide, labor is pulling together along with our allies and chanting, “When we fight, we win!” To help, contact principal officer Lou Luckhardt at lluckhardt.dallasaflcio@gmail.com.
