Now or Never
With all our progress imperiled, the people are mobilizing like never before. Parking spaces are diminishing at 1408 N Washington because of the number of volunteers coming to labor's program or to the Democratic Party next door. Phone banking, door-to-door canvassing, leafleting, sign placing, and special events are at an all-time high.
Our Young Active Labor Leaders and Solidarity Brigadistas are especially encouraging turnout for the Fired Black Dancers. They picket tonight, tomorrow morning, and tomorrow night. Even national AFL-CIO is asking everyone to attend. Here is what they say: "Dancers at the Dallas Black Dance Theatre (DBDT) organized and unanimously voted for a union with the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) back in May. Then, DBDT did the unthinkable: They fired the entire troupe and hired nonunion replacements.
'Join us on the picket lines to support the DBDT fired dancers as we demand fairness. AGMA, the dancers, our affiliated unions and community allies will be on the line, sending a clear message to DBDT: Union-busting is disgusting, and it will not stand.

'The Dallas Black Dance Theatre has just announced its new season, so AGMA members are doing the same. As the theater approaches its 50th anniversary, AGMA’s “Season of Solidarity” rally will highlight the voices of the fired dancers who have been integral to the success of this institution and are now speaking out for justice.
'The entire AGMA membership—and the labor movement—has these dancers’ backs during this shocking and appalling display of union-busting behavior, and we will do everything in our power to protect their rights as artists and workers."
