"Our Strategy Is Working"

UAW International President Shawn Fain says that our strategy is working. He increased the number of auto workers on strike to 25,000. The big Arlington GM plant continues working for now. North Texans continue to support strikers in Roanoke at 301 Freedom Drive in Roanoke and 2505 E Beltline in Carrollton. Roanoke pickets during all daylight hours and Carrollton pickets 24/7. UAW locals 816 and 2360 are holding strong. For the rest of us, showing up on the picket lines is our biggest contribution.

The Young Active Labor Leaders, our solidarity leaders, are targeting 5 PM Saturday, September 30, for their next big solidarity activity in Carrollton. As Shawn Fain has said, "Everyone is invited!"

Face the Government's Crisis Together

Working families are sticking together as a small group of extremists, including prominent Texans, in Congress force us into an international crisis. The national AFL-CIO is relying heavily on the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) for guidance as the shutdown looms over all politics and economics.

Shannon Faulk, Legislative and Political Organizer for AFGE District 10, writes that we should push letters and calls to politicians.

Letters: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/tell-congress-to-stop-the-shutdown/

Calls: https://actionnetwork.org/call_campaigns/its-time-for-congress-to-do-their-job-and-fund-the-government/

In Dallas, we have able leadership from AFGE Local 1003, a bedrock member of the Dallas Central Labor Council. President Justin Chen and longtime leader Jeanne Schulze are staying on top of national developments.

AFGE knows how to handle shutdowns
