Praise to Women!

Dallas has an opportunity to show how much we appreciate women leaders as we celebrate International Women’s Day at 6:30PM on Wednesday, March 8, at 1408 N Washington. Our honored guest is the woman who broke two glass ceilings in the American labor movement, Linda Chavez-Thompson of San Antonio.

Let’s build our labor movement by participating! In addition to Linda, other important Spanish speaking leaders will be there, which gives us a great opportunity to establish a Dallas branch of the Labor Committee for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA).

Congressman Marc Veasey sends regrets that he will be stuck in Washington Wednesday night, but he is preparing a video tribute. Tickets for the dinner are only $15 and can be purchased on-line or with checks sent to Dallas AFL-CIO, 1408 N Washington#240, Dallas TX 75204.

TWU 556 Breaks the News Barrier

The dallas newspaper and other outlets featured the flight attendants

Southwest Airlines Flight Attendants were featured prominently in local news media when they picketed at Love Field on March 2 for a fair contract. Among the picketers were Dallas labor’s principal officer, Lewis Fulbright and both top leaders of the state federation – Rick Levy and Leonard Aguilar. Sister Renda Marsh of the Dallas CLC organized support.

CWA Leads the Way

Communications Workers of America Local 6215 had outstanding attendance at their virtual celebration of Black History Month on February 28. Local speakers and local issues were featured. The local also continued leading the fight to get fairness in overcoming the digital divide here.

Earnest Tilley spoke on Black History

The News Guild (TNG-CWA) journalists at the Dallas newspaper are in their third year of negotiations. They are trying to follow the Fort Worth journalists in getting a first contract, according to a D Magazine article.

CWA 6215 is a core part of the Dallas AFL-CIO. In the frenzy of activity, winning elections for working families is always prominent. Sign up to help us build the progressive movement.
