Pickets are going up immediately at auto parts distribution centers at 2205 East Beltline in Carrollton and 301 Freedom Rd in Roanoke. UAW Local 2360 organizes Stellantis parts distribution in Carrollton, President Cleo Wynn can be reached on Facebook Messenger at https://www.facebook.com/cleo.wynn.33. UAW Local 816 organizes General Motors parts distribution in Roanoke.  In Carrollton, park cars at Beltline & Vantage away from the buildings. In 2019, we had curbside parking by the General Motors gate in Roanoke. At this early point, only bodies on the picket line are needed, but supporters usually bring water and food if the strike goes on.

"We Invite Everybody"

The surprise UAW strategy of striking 38 parts distribution centers nationwide was announced at a 10 AM Facebook talk by President Shawn Fain. It is on our Facebook page. Fain said that progress is being made with Ford negotiations, notably the conversion of all temp jobs to full-time, but that Stellantis and General Motors negotiators need more motivation. He called attention to polls showing overwhelming and growing public support for the strikers. Most importantly, Fain said: “We invite everyone to join us on our picket lines!"

The big General Motors assembly plant in Arlington is not yet on strike. UAW Local 276 leader Pauline Mims spoke to the Dallas Central Labor Council on September 21. She is our main source of information on UAW solidarity in North Texas. Mims can be reached on Facebook Messenger. Every delegate raised their hand when asked if they were backing her. She is the woman standing with her 276 UAW STRIKE TEAM 2023 in the photo taken from her Facebook page.

YALL Leads Solidarity

Young Active Labor Leaders continue to help SAG-AFTRA strikers and Starbucks organizers, but they are eager to participate with the Autoworkers. YALL-DFW Co-Chair David Lowery and activist Justin Kim visited the General Motors Arlington Plant on September 17 to look over the situation in case they go on strike later. We made a video showing the UAW 276 union hall at 2505 W.E. Roberts in Grand Prairie, a nearby bar that might be used for meetings at 3010 E. Abrams in Arlington, and the GM gates on Watson and Abrams streets. Lowery, who picketed in solidarity during the 2019 strike, said that volunteers went to the union hall and parked on its west side, then were shuttled to the gates. The video is on our Facebook page

YALL had already planned to help Starbucks employees beginning at 10AM on Sunday, September 24, with a “SIP IN” just off I35 at 2425 Valley View Ln in Farmers Branch. At 3:30PM that day, they have an on-line contest to see who can perform the best fund pitch. Register here. During the September 21 Central Labor Council, Brother Justin Chen, who is a YALL man and President of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 1003, reminded everyone that national AFL-CIO wants everyone working hard to avert a disastrous government shutdown threatening on October 1st.

Battle stations, everyone!

Please join the Dallas AFL-CIO Solidarity Brigade
