Resolution#1: Win in 2026!

North Texas labor has several victories within immediate reach, including the Taylor Rehmet election campaign and the Starbucks strike/boycott. Long term, we will juice up our solidarity efforts, organizing, and outreach.
Smashing Electoral Gain Is at Hand!
Union member and candidate Taylor Rehmet took 48% of the vote in the first round in State Senate District 9, the northern half of Tarrant County. In a similar state senate race last week in Ohio, a Black female Democrat swept away her opponent 71% to 28%! If we do the work, we can win this one!
Rehmet’s victory in a district formerly dominated by anti-worker politicians, will inspire all of labor’s candidates to push harder in 2026. Winning begets winning!

Phone banking, fund raising, and door canvassing have already begun. See Taylor’s web site to see how you can win your part of this victory.
In order to vote by mail before the January 31 special election, seniors must obtain their 2026 applications. The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans has outlined the many challenges and opportunities for 2026 on our web site.
Starbucks Workers Show the Winning Strategy
The Starbucks workers can win with their strike/boycott strategy. Furthermore, the same tactics could win a lot of other battles once we demonstrate its effectiveness. Do not discount the importance of this fight and see how you can help.

Hit the Ground Running
North Texas labor is not losing any momentum. Even though the old Dallas AFL-CIO office is closed, the new Dallas Labor Assembly will carry us forward on January 15. The meeting is tentatively scheduled at 7PM for all affiliated union members and constituency groups. There is no need for a separate Executive Meeting. Thanks to CWA members Bonnie Mathias and David Marshall, we will be meeting at the usual place, 1408 N Washington.
Personal attendance is best, but on-line participation will be available. Register here
Here are some tentative agenda proposals:
- AFL-CIO Code of Conduct
- Meeting times and places
- Nominations of officers for election in February
- Electoral recommendations
- Reports of locals, requests for assistance, and upcoming tactics

Winning for working families isn’t just an option. It’s a necessity!
