Show Your Colors!
Dallas AFL-CIO delegates were reminded at the April 20 meeting that we’ve asked all union members and supporters to wear red on Thursdays. Vice President Bonnie Mathias recalled that the Communications Workers had started the tradition when one of their members was killed on a picket line.
Our strength is demonstrated in our approval rating, which is over 70% while every political individual and organization, even the President, struggles to get to 50%. We need to show our strength, and to use it!
Let’s Win!
Political Committee leader Jason Tomlinson (jtomlinson.dallasaflcio@gmail.com) told the delegates that we will be canvassing and calling union voters from now through the runoff elections for Dallas City Council. We will be holding an early vote rally at 10AM on April 24 downtown at 600 Commerce. Dallas AFL-CIO's carefully chosen endorsed candidates are listed at https://texasaflcio.org/dallas/labors-election-work/workers-make-our-choices. The educators’ union, Alliance/AFT, has announced their support for Joyce Foreman for Dallas School Board.
