Dallas activists joined in solidarity with the Painters’ Union in a street action downtown on May 22. Members of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) were demanding that Trive Capital, owners of Gemtron in Indiana, listen to the strikers there and negotiate a fair contract. One of the main issues for the strike is keeping their pensions.

Brother Dee Codrington, a delegate Dallas AFL-CIO, was joined by top leaders District Director Chip Fleetwood and International President Jimmy Williams. Dallas activists came from Dallas AFL-CIO, Texas Alliance for Retired Americans, Young Active Labor Leaders, and Workers Defense Project. The strikers have a national campaign to get supporters to call Trive Capital on their behalf. Click here to help.

Votes Matter to Working Families

Friday, May 24, is the last day of early voting for the May 28 primary runoff election. Turnout is everything. Anyone who disparages voting is playing into the hands of autocrats, because working families have a stake in every area of struggle, including elections.
