Take a Break Tonight!

Dallas activists have been working our tails off all the way through early voting, which ends tonight (November 1). We’ll take a fun break with our Casino Night fund raiser at 7:30PM at 1408 N Washington. Tickets are $30 at https://square.link/u/vSx4fO8p or at the door.

Tomorrow morning and through Tuesday, we hit it hard!

Lots More to Do

Political Director Earnest Tilley writes: “We are in the home stretch of this election! Our final block will be this Saturday November 2nd. We will not meet at the Union Hall, but instead location will be 2616 Park Creek Drive, Plano, Tx 75075 at 9:30 am!! Let's have a BIG showing of labor at this block walk to take her to Victory!!”

Phone banking takes place every day. We’ll need special volunteers starting early on Tuesday, election day. As the polls close at 7PM, we’ll gather at 1408 N Washington and start our celebratory round of different watch parties. We’ll take Lou Luckhardt’s passenger van and add extra cars to our caravan.

David Marshall of CWA 6215 reported that his union was giving away free Harris/Walz yard signs, but they are going fast! The official signs went for $15 at the Democratic Party office, 1414 Washington. Even at that price, they ran out several times.

Even at $15, lots of official yard signs are up

Lots of different kinds of yard signs can be bought on-line

We're poised for victory

American labor is on a roll. Serious negotiations may have begun with management and the Fired Black Dancers. Re-hiring and back pay are on the agenda.  The BLS jobs survey says that unemployment stayed at 4.1% and wages continued to rise at a 4% annual rate. That’s much higher than current inflation.

What’s Next?

Election results will be pouring in on Wednesday morning. Whether labor wins or loses, November 5 is expected to be transformational. Nobody alive today has experience for what to do if we win and get more opportunities than we have ever had, or if we lose and face disaster. We will need to consult the history of America in 1936 if we win, and Germany in 1933 if we lose.

One of labor’s first opportunities to discuss new tactics will the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans’ regular 12:30PM first-Wednesday meeting November 6 at 334 Centre. Register here.  All of our ZOOM links have been adjusted so you may have to click on "continue."

The post-election meeting of the Dallas Central Labor Council will be November 21.
