War Gets Bigger and Hotter

“Understand that when they come for one of us, they come for all of us,”

-- National AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler

Last Saturday saw some of the biggest protests in American history. More than 1,300 American cities, and some foreign cities, were involved. Predictions for April 19 are even larger. It is likely that all the giant crowds will grow even larger around International Workers Day, May 1, when a growing number of North Texas events are being planned.

Union activists and our friends, new and old, are scrambling to participate in all the actions possible. It is still true that organized labor’s activities take precedence, because only a united working class can hope to win. Labor isn't just fighting for immediate gains, but for a long-term fighting force that can stand up to anything!

Major unions are petitioning against the assault on our democratic rights.  Sign the petition at https://submit.jotform.com/250850668516059. We’ll be fighting cuts and privatization at the Main Post Office beginning 10 AM on Tax Day, April 15. National AFL-CIO called for town hall discussions everywhere. Your Dallas AFL-CIO will hold ours at 6:30PM on April 21 at 1408 N Washington.

Town Hall meetings will be nationwide, and in Dallas

Steelworker retirees will lead an advance into East Texas with a fish fry scheduled for 11:30 AM on April 24 at the Wildflower Inn at Hughes Spring. Free transportation from Dallas leaves at 9AM from 1408 N Washington.

Our electoral program is up and running. Phone banking and door-to-door canvassing are being coordinated by Political Director Earnest Tilley. etilley2006@yahoo.com

Preparation Leads to Victory

The Communications Workers called off their Dallas march on April 11 because they had already achieved a tentative agreement with AT&T Southwest. UAW 848 members at Qarbon in Red Oak overwhelmingly ratified their new contract this week after previously turning in an unprecedented 100% strike authorization vote. Texas Alliance for Retired Americans picketed a Social Security office. The more our members and friends are informed and prepared, the less likely it is that we will have to take drastic action!

Retirees Release Political Data

Every year, the Alliance for Retired Americans publishes the names and voting records of Congresspersons. “Hero” and “Zero” awards are handed out by local activists.

Texas congresspersons revealed!

Coordinate Our Efforts

An unprecedented number of people are participating in the national fightback, but we could be more effective if we coordinated. To that end, on-line meetings for anybody who is interested in working together continue at 6:30PM every Friday. Register (if you haven’t already)
