”They come for us first, and then everybody else is next.” -- Benji King of American Federation of Government Employees

Since the U.S. House passed what the American Federation of Teachers calls “…the largest transfer of wealth from the poor and working class to the wealthy in our history,” working families are uniting with the help of organized labor.

The Texas AFL-CIO will hold a special phone banking opportunity at 6:30PM on Wednesday, May 28. Federal and Post Office employees will take special leadership. Texas AFL-CIO Secretary Treasurer Leonard Aguilar told Texas leaders on May 23, “We are trying to get everybody that we can to help on May 28.” Register here: Texas-Sized Phone Bank to Support Federal Workers.

Join the Union Convention

The Texas AFL-CIO Constitutional Convention is an unparalleled opportunity to bring us together. Details and registration are on their web site. https://texasaflcio.org/events. Register today, May 23, for the lowest cost. The deadline for lower-cost room rates at the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel is June 3.

Unions have delegates, but guests are also welcome. The Texas Alliance for Retired Americans plans to hold a special caucus for anybody, union member or not, who wants to come. Contact judy4tara@aol.com.

Dallas Election Work Continues

The Dallas AFL-CIO fully cooperates with the state and national federations, but we also concentrate our efforts on local business. Phone banking and door-to-door canvassing are underway for the June 7 runoff election. Contact etilley2006@yahoo.com

Stop the Dictatorship

When I speak to any audience, I ask “Who believes that Trump and Musk are trying to establish a dictatorship in America?” So far, the response has been unanimously in favor. What remains is agreeing on how to fight back. We are learning, because we realize that we must, to put aside our differences and work together against dictatorship and deprivation.
