This year’s National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC’s) Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place Saturday, May 11. If you want to help fight food insecurity, simply leave a bag of nonperishable food next to your mailbox this Saturday, and your letter carrier will handle the rest.

The North Texas Food Bank always needs donations and volunteers.

Workers Need A Union

Union activists across North Texas are writing letters to the Cargill-Cook corporation on behalf of their employees. Management could easily agree to “voluntary recognition” and save everybody a long and costly government-supervised union election. The workers have signed union cards and asked for voluntary recognition. Cargill should honor their employees’ request and not interfere with their decision. Send letters to organizer Gonzalo Reyes gonzalo@ufcw540.org

Flight Attendants Want Strike Authorization

Young Active Labor Leaders picketed with flight attendants at DFW Airport on May 9. They are asking us to help APFA, Flight Attendants at American Airlines,  to reach out to their congressional reps and urge them to call for a strike authorization in their contract negotiations.

“Having Wonderful Time”

Dallas AFL-CIO threw a great party and picnic for International Workers Day on May 4th at the Postal Employees’ hall. There were informational tables from our sponsors, short political speeches, raffles, and fun and games outside for the children. For many, the highlight of the event was the talent show. We had great singers, dancers, and poetry recitals. But the knockout performance came from little Bobbie Jordan, who won the top prize.

Also on May 4, labor’s endorsed candidate for DISD trustee in District 9, Ed Turner, won his election.
