Sylvia Tanguma

Sylvia Tanguma serves as President of the Rio Grande Valley Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and as President of McAllen AFT—one of the largest affiliates in the region. An educator and union leader, she has been actively involved in advancing the interests of working people across the Rio Grande Valley.

As CLC President, Sylvia works with affiliated unions to support collaboration, strengthen communication, and promote the collective goals of the labor movement in the region. Through her leadership roles, she brings experience in representing educators and advocating for public education and workers’ rights.

Sylvia remains committed to supporting union members and contributing to a strong and unified labor movement in the Rio Grande Valley.
