In September, tenured history professor and TSEU member Tom Alter was fired from Texas State University for giving an off-campus speech after being targeted by an online fascist troll. Tom is a canary in the coal mine for the new wave of attacks on public education, from curriculum censorship to faculty purges to elimination of departments and staff.
