The Texas AFL-CIO today blasted Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick for deploying ‘Great Replacement” rhetoric in his claim on Fox News that Democrats are supporting an “invasion” of the country by immigrants for political purposes.

Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy’s statement:

"The repeated use of invasion rhetoric by Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Attorney General Ken Paxton to attack immigrants looking for better lives took a radical step into the gutter on Fox News last night.”

“The El Paso shootings and other violent episodes point up how dangerous it is to mark new Latino and Black immigrants, who cannot vote, as partisan political enemies. The Haitian immigrants who triggered Patrick’s words are fleeing multiple disasters and taking a lawful road in search of asylum, not ‘invasion.’ Dan Patrick’s remarks are the essence of white supremacy, and we condemn them.”

The Texas AFL-CIO is the state labor federation representing 240,000 affiliated union members who advocate for working families in Texas.
