The Texas AFL-CIO COPE saluted labor-endorsed candidate Jessica Cisneros, who today conceded in the extraordinarily close Congressional District 28 runoff.

“We thank Jessica Cisneros, a true progressive who ran a magnificent campaign in CD 28,” Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy said. “Jessica deserved better than the array of dark money and other powerful forces maintaining a sorry status quo, but she fought mightily to the finish on the side of working families.”

“In the runoff campaign alone, union members knocked on thousands of doors, sent out thousands of postcards, and made thousands of phone calls to our members, retirees and allies,” Levy said. “While the results were not what we hoped for, you can rest assured that the labor movement in Texas will continue to fight for a better future for all Texans.”

The Texas AFL-CIO COPE Committee will meet again to finalize our list of endorsed candidates ahead of the general election.
