Texas AFL-CIO President John Patrick issued the following statement on today’s day of action to fight back against SB 4 at the Capitol:

“The Texas AFL-CIO supports today’s day of action because we are determined to fight for all working people – no matter their race, nationality, or immigration status. SB 4 will create fear in our immigrant communities. When immigrants are afraid to speak up against exploitation in the workplace, it drives down standards for all Texans. Working people are stronger when we stick together, and SB 4 is a blatant attempt to divide us. The Texas AFL-CIO will work hard to make sure we stay united.”

The Texas AFL-CIO launched a video today to help raise awareness on SB 4, which can be viewed here. The video is a first step in the process of educating working people on the importance of staying united in the face of anti-immigrant legislation in Texas.
