Blanca Rios
I started in the Elevator Constructors Union over 17 years ago as a Probationary Apprentice in New Mexico Local 133. As the only female apprentice in the entire state. I worked hard, gained allies, learned the ups and downs of my trade from amazing instructors, mechanics and mentors in the class room and on the job site.
I became a Mechanic and moved to Austin where I was given the opportunity to pursue my passion for teaching and helping to guide the next generation of Mechanics by becoming an Instructor for Local 133.
I recently put down the wrenches and took on another role as NEIEP Area Coordinator and I am now responsible for all IUEC Apprentices, Instructors, JAC’s , and supporting others to share there passion for building a stronger Local, Union and Trade across Texas and New Mexico
None of it would have been possible without my Union and what it has provided for me through this journey.
