Karina Quintana
A native of Los Angeles, CA, Karina began her career with the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO in 2008 coming on staff as a National Organizer during the historic TSA campaign. Since then, she has continued to work for AFGE and has lived in the 3rd, 12th and now 10th district residing in the DFW area. In her role with AFGE, she has mentored many colleagues and has assisted in the development and implementation of programs such as the YOUNG Organizing Class.
Prior to joining AFGE, Karina worked as an event manager. Choosing to part ways when she realized how upper management was accustomed to mistreating the staff, she began searching for a career that would fulfill her willingness to empower those who can’t always stand up for themselves.
In 2008 she married her best friend Manny who also advocates for workers’ rights in his role as a union steward with TWU 591. She has two amazing boys, Brody- 13 and Luca- 7, and is the dog mama to Brookyln and Belle.
Dedicated and with a passion to help others Karina sits on the both the Scholarship and Women’s Committees with the Texas AFL-CIO. She is a CWA 2385 member and serves her community by sitting on the Neighborhood and Community Advisory Committee with the City of Hurst. As a second-generation unionist, she continues to champion positive change for those that are yet to come. "The importance of this reaches far more than anything one single person could do. But, being part of the collective that helps those once thought voiceless achieve a seat at the table is why I’m proud to be a part of this movement.”
