The Texas AFL-CIO is seeking a digital intern to help manage social media and create content. Working under the supervision of the Digital Strategist and Communications Director, they will help mobilize our activist base, create flyers and help to create election graphics for the web. Applicants should be comfortable with all major social media platforms and have experience working with graphics in Adobe Photoshop and Canva.

We encourage college students, women and people of color to apply. Social justice activists with experience or study in marketing, journalism would thrive in this fast paced environment.

This is a seasonal job, ending after Election Day.

• We ask for a commitment of 15-20 hours a week, but we're reasonably flexible about scheduling. Pay is $15 per hour
• Help manage social media and weekly emails with the assistance of the Communications Director and Digital Strategist
• Help monitor traffic and consider growth strategies. Monitor social media and news outlets for breaking news and opportunities
• Help create content – both digital and print. (e.g., social media graphics and flyers for our field organizers and Central Labor Councils)
• Can help facilitate digital actions using Zoom Webinars/Meetings
• Think outside the box using the tools at our disposal for digital organizing/activism

Preference given for these skills:

• Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and a sense of excitement around innovations in digital communication, mobilization, and organizing
• Management of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram LIVE under the direction of staff
• Adobe Creative Suite, Canva or other graphic design tools
• Camera proficient
• Familiarity with SMS texting campaigns (Hustle, GetThru) and CRM Platforms (Action Network, Nation Builder, MailChimp, Constant Contact)
• Comfortable under deadline pressure
