AFSCME Local 1624 and community partners are joining together for a Rally Against Proposition I on Monday, September 21 at noon, and we need our members to stand with us!
Proposition I could have significant consequences for the City of Austin, its employees, and the public services our community depends on. The proposed efficiency audit is part of a broader conversation about how our City operates, how taxpayer dollars are spent, and how City services are delivered.
Why Does Your Presence Matter?
As City employees, we know firsthand what it takes to keep Austin running. We understand the services we provide, the challenges our departments face, and what happens when there aren't enough people or resources to do the job.
We believe Austin deserves efficient, accountable government—but efficiency should not come at the expense of City employees or the quality of public services.
This is why we need to stand together.
When we show up, we send a powerful message: We are paying attention. We care about our jobs, our coworkers, and the services we provide to the people of Austin. And we will not sit on the sidelines while decisions that could affect our work and our community are being made.
This rally is an opportunity to make our voices heard.
