Greg Abbott is letting Trump take over Texas. Instead of addressing the real crises Texans are facing, he's been using the special legislative session to push Trump's political agenda. Families are still recovering from the devastating Central Texas floods. Abbott could have delivered millions of dollars in flood relief without a special session, and he can do so now with a wave of his pen.
Instead, Texas is being used as a testing ground for extremist policies and partisan games that don't reflect our values. Thousands of Texans have shown up against the racially gerrymandered congressional map lawmakers are trying to force through in order to weaken the voting power of communities of color. In response, the Texas House Democrats are fighting to prevent Abbott from letting Trump use our state to cling to power. When we come together as Texans of every race, zip code, and background, we can push back and demand better.
Now, folks from all over the country are coming together in solidarity with Texas to demand lawmakers put people first.
