
CHARLES R. DELGADO
1929 - 2023
An outstanding labor leader who blazed trails for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Texas, Charles R. Delgado rose through the local ranks to serve as Business Manager of IBEW Local 527 for nearly 20 years.
Bringing calm reason and a level head to all his endeavors, the Texas City native promoted the cause of organized labor both within and outside the labor movement. While Vice President of the Texas AFL-CIO, he served as Co-Chair of a committee that won approval for revisions and updates of the Texas AFL-CIO Constitution in 1993.
Delgado serves as Galveston Executive Democratic Chairman and sat on the State Democratic Executive Committee. He was appointed by Gov. Ann Richards as labor commissioner on the TNLRC in 1992.
Delgado’s accomplishments are not limited to the IBEW or political arenas. He is an accomplished professional jazz musician and has been an active member of Musicians Local 74 since 1941.
