FRANK BARRON
1923-
Frank Barron has had a long and distinguished career as a labor union leader and activist in Tarrant County and Texas.
A member of Communications Workers of America Local 6290, Brother Barron served as President of the Tarrant County Central Labor Council for 16 years between 1972 and 1988. He also served as a Texas AFL-CIO Vice President from 1973 until 1989.
Politically active, Brother Barron served in many capacities in the Democratic Party. He has been precinct chair since 1956, and was chair of Tarrant County Democratic District 10.
As a community activist, Brother Barron has served on the boards of United Way, the Easter Seal Society, the North Texas Health Planning Council, the North Texas Economic Advisory Council, and employment training and industry councils.
Always working for the betterment of trade unionism, Brother Frank Barron is surely known as a man who would rather be a king-maker, not a king - and so deserves his place in the Texas Labor Hall of Fame.
