
JACK A. MARTIN
1907 - 1975
Jack A. Martin first joined Iron Workers Local 66 in San Antonio in 1930. He became President of the local in 1933 and Business Manager and Financial Secretary-Treasurer in 1955.
From 1965 until his death in 1975, Brother Martin held the posts of District Representative and General Organizer of the International Union. During the same period, he served the Workers' District Council as Legislative Director and Secretary-Treasurer of the Iron Workers District Council.
Brother Martin was also President of both the San Antonio Building and Construction Trades Council and San Antonio Council. He was Secretary-Treasurer of the San Antonio Council from 1957 to 1965 and a Vice President of the Texas AFL-CIO from 1958 to 1963.
In 1967, Brother Martin represented the United States at a dedication of Mangla Dam in Pakistan. He was on the Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries and on the original Board of Directors for the Hemisfair in San Antonio.
