OSCAR DALE SEASTRUNK

1927-2001

Oscar Dale Seastrunk advanced the status of the building trades union in Texas during more than a quarter-century of service as Business Manager of Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 100 and as President of the Texas State Building Trades from 1971 to 1984. In those roles, he played a major role in organizing and obtaining better working conditions for members of construction trade unions throughout Texas.

Seaspunk promoted dignity on the job in a variety of other capacities, serving as president of the Dallas AFL-CIO, as a Board of Regents member for the Texas State Technical Institute, and as chair of the State Joint Apprenticeship Committee.

A military veteran who served as a Fireman First Class during World War II, Seastrunk and his wife, Juanita, were family to thousands of working people. All building trades workers in Texas benefited from Brother Seastrunk’s leadership.
