M.A “PEE-WEE” GRAHAM
M.A. "Pee Wee” Graham, while small in stature, is a giant among men. His 62 years in the labor movement leaves a record of great achievement and rare distinction.
He joined IBEW Local 747 in Beaumont in 1927, later transferring to Houston IBEW Local 716, where he was elected to the executive board 11 times and served as an unpaid organizer for 10 years.
Serving as Executive Secretary of the Houston Building and Construction Trades Council from 1957 until his retirement in 1978, Brother Graham personally borrowed money from a bank to reactivate the Texas Building and Construction Trades Council in 1961.
Friend to President Lyndon Johnson, influential with political leaders who supported labor, active participant in civic efforts, and advocate of innovative labor programs now commonly accepted, he has received the respect and admiration of all who have come to know him.
Brother Graham, known to many as “Pee Wee”, looms large in the story of Texas labor.
