A.R. (RAY) JOHNSON

A.R. (Ray) Johnson has been a cherished member and leader of the International Union of Electrical Workers for all of his adult life. 

He first joined the union in 1931, during the Great Depression when there was little work. He joined again in 1940 and quickly rose to leadership positions in the union. 

Brother Johnson became President of Local #324 in Longview, Texas in 1946 and Business Manager in 1957. He was Vice President of the State Association of Electrical Workers from 1950 until 1957. 

Brother Johnson was also Vice President of the Texas Federation of Labor from 1950 until its merger with the CIO in 1957.

From 1957 until his retirement in 1973, he was an International Representative and Assistant to the Seventh District Vice President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. 

His dedication to the union cause has been clearly demonstrated throughout the years.
