Lone Star Labor: What are you waiting for?

Tomorrow is the last day of early voting, and Primary Election Day is Tuesday. If you haven’t made it to the polls yet, what are you waiting for?
Visit govotetexas.org to find your polling place, preview your ballot, and know which ID you’ll need to have when you vote. Then review our Texas AFL-CIO COPE 2026 Primary Election Pro-Worker Endorsements to learn which candidates stand with Texas workers.
If you’ve already voted, have you talked to your friends and family about their plan to vote? Even with a higher-than-usual voting turnout, fewer than 8% of registered voters have cast a ballot so far. With numbers that low, a solid union vote can decide elections.
Here’s the real question: What more can we do to elect pro-worker candidates?
Join us as we knock doors for our pro-worker candidates THIS SATURDAY, Feb. 28:

AI & TECH NEWS BITE
The rapid adoption of AI in the workplace is evaluating how workers work. In the service industry, employers are moving to intrusive AI "coaches" that record and grade human interactions. In fast-food settings, platforms like Hoptix rank workers on their ability to upsell products in real-time. These ranking metrics create a high-pressure environment where workers are treated as data points, often ignoring real world conditions.
The AFL-CIO’s worker-centered AI agenda would guard against these types of menacing tools by ensuring technology is used to make jobs safer, rather than to automate discipline or punish workers. This starts with a firm ban on invasive monitoring tools, such as the use of biometric data and sentiment analysis to manage performance, which effectively punishes workers for natural human traits like fatigue, caution, or even a lack of a smile.
