DALLAS – Today, following the recommendation of the North Texas Area Labor Federation, the Texas AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education (COPE) announced their endorsement of Colin Allred for the primary runoff for Texas Congressional District 33.

Delegates to the North Texas Area Labor Federation COPE screened CD-33 candidates and voted to recommend Allred for endorsement. Then, the Texas AFL-CIO Executive Board, made up of delegates from across the state, reviewed the race and voted to endorse Allred through the COPE.

“We need fighters in DC who will take on the billionaires, corporations, and special interests — that’s why we’re proud to endorse Colin Allred,” said Texas AFL-CIO President Leonard Aguilar. “Colin is ready to fight shoulder-to-shoulder with workers to win better wages, fully-fund our public schools, and lower health care costs. In runoffs, Texas union members’ votes could be the deciding factor, and you can bet on Texas union members turning out this May.”

“Colin Allred is ready to fight for all Dallas workers,” said Diana Ramirez, executive director of the North Texas Area Labor Federation. “As a union member, he has the integrity, the record, and the drive that we need in Washington. North Texas union members are proud to support him for Congress.”

Allred was raised in Dallas by a single mom who taught school and worked nights to make ends meet. From his career as an NFL linebacker — where he became a member of the National Football League Players Association (NFLPA) — to civil rights attorney, to congressman,  he’s fought side-by-side with working people to deliver for the community.

“Working people keep this country running, and corporations keep rigging the system and taking more while workers get less. That ends as soon as I get to Washington,” said Allred. “I will fight for better wages, fair contracts, and the dignity every worker deserves, without taking a single dime of corporate PAC money — because I answer to working people, not corporations.”

Early voting for the primary runoff will be May 18-22, with Election Day on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. The list of all Texas AFL-CIO COPE 2026 Primary Runoff endorsements can be found here.
